Here’s a simple breakdown of what you can expect throughout the year so you can pick the best season to visit Cancún and the Riviera Maya.

December to February

Weather: warm days but the ocean can feel a bit cooler compared to summer; perfect if you want dry weather and comfortable temperatures.
Tourism: high season, beaches and hotels are busier.

March to May

Weather: hotter days, moderate humidity; warm and crystal-clear ocean.
Tourism: spring break season, more people in beaches and ruins.

June to August

Weather: summer vibes — high heat and short afternoon showers.
Tourism: lower prices and fewer crowds.
Sargassum: can show up on some beaches, but it varies every year.

September to November

Weather: hurricane season with more frequent rain.
